Below are a list of various volunteer opportunities with FCCHB & with local nonprofit partners that are doing excellent work in our community. We want you to feel empowered to reach out to these nonprofits directly, but we're absolutely happy to facilitate the connection if you'd like. It's important to us that you have a positive volunteer experience. VOLUNTEER IDEAS

FCCHB DRIVE THRU FOOD PANTRY

Providing Free Groceries & Living Essentials to Our Community
On the fourth Sunday of every month our Assistance Ministry holds its monthly Drive Thru Food Pantry in our FCCHB parking lot. At this event, we distribute both fresh & non-perishable foods to families and individuals. We even have some additional options like toiletries, diapers, wipes, and cleaning supplies for those who’d like them. ENGLISH CLUB

Practicing conversational English group meetings for English language learners
No matter what level of English you speak & no matter what your primary language is, all people are welcome! Are you a fluent English speaker? Spread the word about this group to you friends, neighbors, or family members who could benefit from English language practice. Download a shareable invite HERE. This is a friendly, easy-going group where we practice English conversation prompts with English speaking volunteers. You can expect snacks, great community, and fun for adults with or without children. Children are encouraged to attend with their parents as we'll have appropriate child/youth - friendly activities. No need to register. Meet in The SHED at FCCHB from 6 - 7:30 P.M. on the second Thursday of each month. If you’re interested in volunteering, email Jericho.rhoten@fcchb.com.

Prayer Shawl

A group of women meet on the 2nd & 4th Thursday of every month to make handmade shawls to give as gifts to those in need. We believe this is one simple way to show those going through a difficult time that there is a community thinking of them. Whether you know how to knit/crochet or not, all are welcome. We offer yarn and instructions for everyone! All are welcome — both those who know how to knit or crochet and those wanting to learn. PROJECT HOPE ALLIANCE

Offering 24/7 Support to Students Experiencing Homelessness
Project Hope Alliance (PHA) works one-on-one with students and places full-time case managers on elementary, junior high, and high school campuses. Case managers are available 24/7 to support their students. They identify students experiencing homelessness and provide basic needs such as, food, clothing, or transportation. FCCHB helps stock the PHA supply pantry at Huntington Beach High School. Are you interested in supplying some of the students' favorite goodies and helpful essentials? Email georgina.hernandez@fcchb.com to learn about how you can help meet current needs.During Thanksgiving & Christmas, HBHS students a part of the PHA program have some additional holiday needs. If you’d like to encourage students by assembling a holiday goody basket(s) email georgina.hernandez@fcchb.com for directions.

PROJECT SELF-SUFFICIENCY

Supporting Low-Income, Single Parents Through College
Project Self-Sufficiency helps low-income, single parents in Orange County, California, graduate from college or vocational training with the skills necessary to achieve economic independence. They provide customized, wraparound services throughout these parents’ educational journeys and help them transition into careers. LIFE ON THE STREETS (LOTS)

Assisting the Homeless Population of Costa Mesa
LOTS distributes sack lunches to the homeless every week. You or your group can help out by purchasing requested sack lunch supplies, decorating the bags, packing the lunches, and dropping them off at a volunteer coordinator’s home in Costa Mesa on a Thursday or Friday evening. Email jericho.rhoten@fcchb.com for more info. LOTS also has a recurring Saturday morning outreach at The Crossing’s church campus in Costa Mesa. Volunteers are needed to cook breakfast, distribute clothing, assist with laundry, etc. To inquire about in-person volunteering, email Shawn at shawn@LOTSministry.com.

PATRIOTS & PAWS

Supporting Veterans, Active Duty, & Reservists
Support veterans by scheduling a time for someone to come pick up items you’d like to donate from your home — such as furniture and/or household goods. CLICK HERE for an extensive list of acceptable donation items, as well as information about how to donate.

ROBYNE’S NEST

Supporting At-Risk & Homeless High School Students
Donate bus passes, school supplies (gently-used or new), helpful home goods, food, or gift cards to support vulnerable students this season. For a list of items and how to donate, CLICK HERE. VOICE OF REFUGEES

Assisting the Refugee & Asylum-Seeking Community
Voice of Refugees exists to show God's love in action by assisting the refugee and asylum-seeking community as they assimilate to, and re-establish their lives in, the United States. BRACKEN’S KITCHEN

Combatting Food Insecurity for Vulnerable Individuals in OC
This nonprofit recovers food and prepares over 30,000 meals weekly in their Garden Grove kitchen facility. They currently have volunteer needs for: kitchen assistance, food truck services, gardening, packaging food products, etc. CLICK HERE for more information about different volunteer opportunities with Bracken’s Kitchen.

DELIVERING WITH DIGNITY

Combatting Food Insecurity for Vulnerable Individuals in OC

Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)

Supporting & Advocating for Youth in Foster Care
CASA volunteers are trained, dedicated, ordinary citizens with extraordinary hearts. A CASA volunteer advocates for a child who has experienced abuse, neglect, or abandonment. They develop a consistent, one-on-one relationship with their matched child. CASA volunteers go on outings and spend quality time with the child. This relationship enables the CASA volunteer to interact with all professionals involved in the child’s case and make recommendations directly to the court, ensuring the child’s best interests are heard. Mid India Christian Mission assists children throughout Central India by providing education, clean water, life skills, basic needs, church plants, and so much more.
